Update: New Adventures

Just wanted to give a little update on my new business adventures I have been working on!  I have been working hard for the past few months on my new ideas and I feel like my hard work is finally paying off this week!!

I sold my first order of ball jar candles on ETSY!  10 navy and 10 coral candles to a lady for her wedding.  So excited that MY CANDLES are going to be used at someones wedding!

I also made my first two sales of painted and distressed ball mason jars this week!  Both sold to ladies named Beth and one of them is shipping to Greenville, SC, where I live.  I find both of those things slightly strange. :-)

I have also been working on adding as many cute color combinations to MY NEW SHOP as I can think of! (more coming soon!  I am very excited to be working on a RAINBOW SET and NEON COLORS!) I like this navy, coral, and cream combo best of all!  As you can tell my coral paint came in this week and I picked it up from this small local hardware store.  I could definitely tell that they don't get a lot of customers who are young and picking up one can of coral spray paint.  I could also tell that the people running the shop thought I was out of place! Everyone else in the shop was buying some type of tool or farming material in bulk.  I grew up in the country though and went to small hardware stores like that all the time with my grandfather(everyone there always knew him by name) I felt right at home. ;-)  Maybe if I order enough paint from them they will get to know me.

Lastly.  I am also pleased that I have sold around 15-20 things in my first week of having my booth at THE DOWNTOWN MARKET ASHEVILLE, NC!  I had no idea what to expect from this booth, but it has exceeded my expectations!! I will have to start making weekly trips up the mountain I believe!  Tomorrow will be my second trip!

Well back to paintin' jars and makin' candles! Have a lovely Sunday!

Ps.  Had amazing luck yesterday at some estate sales!  Pics and stories to come! 'Estate saling' is always an adventure.

My Dream Car...

I always say I am going to drop out of life, buy a vintage VW van and become a professional protester...  Well...I will at the very least have the van one day.

It will be teal, of course!

And when I am driving it, I will pretend I am these people in the vintage advertisement.  :-)

On the same, but oh so different note.  I found this cute Lego Van on Pinterest.

Too bad it's 162 bucks on Amazon!  $162 for LEGOS?!  That is why I wish I lived in the time of the advertisement above!

Couldn't Turn It Down

Sooo...this weekend My sister and I went to a yard sale(twice) that was about four houses down from my parents house.  The first time I left with these two vintage yellow tables.  Which I might add were only $1 each!!!

Sorry for the bad cell phone picture.
I plan to paint them, I will post pictures of the finished product.  As we were leaving the first time, I see them putting out a door, yes a door.  We left and my sister convinced me to go back about 45 mins later because I wouldn't stop talking about how I needed the door ha.  When we get there I hear the lady tell someone that the door is $2.  TWO DOLLARS for a door....yep.  My sister and I carried this door down the side of the road to my parents house, because it would not fit in the car.

Now I have a $2 door.  I WILL find something fabulous to do with it!

Found It.

I posted awhile back about my new love for vintage sour cream glasses.  I was at the flea market a few weeks ago and I was looking through these boxes of what looked like a bunch of trash.  THEN...I found this sour cream glass!!  The best part is that it was only 50 cent!  Its the start of my collection.

Claustrophobic

This is the line form the estate sale I went to this afternoon.  I was number 74 in line.  This sale was advertised online and they had one snow flake Pyrex in one of the photos.  I figured it would be gone by the time I even got in the front door.  They let all 100 or so people lined up in the house all at once needless to say it was crowed in there!  As quickly as I could, I made my way to the kitchen and almost knocked over a little old lady...but I got my Pyrex! :-)

This is probably my new favorite piece!

Name:  Snow Flake
Type:  Casserole Dish
Year:  1957

I also picked up these two magazines.  Home furnishing guide form 1967 and the Carolina Co-Operator from 1943!

Cathrineholm

Cathrineholm History

Cathrineholm was an ironworks, located near the town of Halden in Norway, which started production in 1907. Originally the ironworks manufactured wrought iron products and agricultural equipment, but due to changing economic circumstances it later evolved into producing enamel kitchenware. The company closed in 1970.

This picture is from a really cool blog...Link
These guys on Etsy designed these awesome posters with Cathrineholm.  Link

Classy Jackie

I am in love with this Jackie O poster from Crate and Barrel.  I was going to say it is very Andy Warhol(ish)...then I read that it was a reprint of his ha ha.  Too bad it is $169.00!!!  I pretty much need everything that Crate and Barrel makes, I love their store!!!   Link

No Need For Help...

I am sure EVERYONE as heard about the book and movie "The Help" by now.  I have seen the trailer at least 100 times on TV.  But... I have to jump on the bus and tell everyone how great the book is!  I finished it in about three days and now I need something new to read!  I am also excited to see the movie even though the movies are NEVER as good as the books.  If you have not heard it before..."Go read it...now!"

Pretty Sour Cream

My newest vintage obsession is sour cream glasses.  I was looking through this months Martha Stewart and there was an article about them, and I fell in love!  I had seen jelly jars that people could use as glasses after all the jelly was gone, but never sour cream ones.  They have such awesome vintage patterns.  I don’t think I will be finding any unless I buy them online…but I can hope to find a hoarder’s estate sale with some!  Don’t you wish sour cream and other products still came in containers like these?!?  I do!

Moving Ahhh...

I spent all weekend moving! After almost getting a washing machine dropped on me and breaking the French press...it is finished!!!  I don’t know where anything is and spent almost an hour looking for the darn TRASH BAGS and dish detergent!  I am working on finding awesome retro piece to transform my apartment.  There are boxes every where, as soon as they are all packed away I will post pictures!!    My tomato plants made it through the move and I have six big tomatoes just waiting to turn.  Well...just a short update since I have not posted in forever!  The end

Estate Sales

I went to two estate sales this morning, they were both on the last day of the sale...soooo...everything was 50% off!!!  I found this retro night stand for $20.  I may paint it, but I think I might just leave the original finish.
At the next sale I found these Pyrex mixing bowls.  $3 for both.

Name:  Early American
Type:  Nesting Mixing Bowls
Year:  1961

There is a third 2.5 quart mixing bowl that goes with this set.  I hope to find it soon!
