The Little Things In Life

I never, ever buy anything on Ebay.  I have faith I will find things one day in my thrifting, but..... I had to have these hanging elves!!  I saw them for the first time a few weeks ago online.  I have no idea why I love them so much.  Possibly it is the fact that I can hang them on random things and their little booty will stick out! :-) haha Can't wait for them to arrive!

My Dream Car...

I always say I am going to drop out of life, buy a vintage VW van and become a professional protester...  Well...I will at the very least have the van one day.

It will be teal, of course!

And when I am driving it, I will pretend I am these people in the vintage advertisement.  :-)

On the same, but oh so different note.  I found this cute Lego Van on Pinterest.

Too bad it's 162 bucks on Amazon!  $162 for LEGOS?!  That is why I wish I lived in the time of the advertisement above!

Vintage Rubbermaid Turquoise Laundry Basket

I found this awesome Rubbermaid turquoise laundry basket this morning at an estate sale for 2 bucks!
 It's so tiny!
I was so thrilled to spot it.  It was filled with a ton of jar rings that they were trying to sell in the basket.  I went over to the guy and asked if I could buy just the laundry basket.  I swear sometimes at estate sales these folks think I'm crazy.   We settled on 2 bucks and I went on my way thrilled!  I can totally understand how most people do not understand or share my enthusiasm on finding these things, and I am most definitely okay with that!  I think I will be using it in my turquoise/red kitchen for dirty kitchen towels!  :-)

Turquoise Metal Wheat Dish- Pyrex

Let me just say...When I saw this dish at a yard sale today...I was more than excited.  Then I asked the price and could hardly contain myself.  TWO DOLLARS!  I recently saw one selling for around $70 on Ebay.   I love a good deal! :-) Sorry for the bad cell phone picture, I will post more later!  Now time to make room on the shelf!

Pyrex Update:

I have been collecting Pyrex for a little over a year now and my one problem is displaying...  I am constantly adding to my collection and rearranging my shelves. This is what I came up with today.  I don't love it because you can't see everything...I guess I just need a bigger shelf!

I also have to show of my sour cream glasses and my one piece of Cathrineholm I found for $3 recently!  :-)

Blue Berry Lime Jam

Blue Berry Lime Jam Recipe

Yields: about 6 half-pints

4 1/2 cups or blueberries
6 tablespoons classic pectin
5 cups or sugar
1 tablespoons grated lime peel
1/3 cup lime juice

Crush blueberries on layer at a time. Combine crushed blueberries and classic pectin in a large sauce pot. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.  Add sugar, stirring until dissolved.  Stir in grated lime peel and lime juice.  Return to a rolling boil.  Boil hard 1 minute, stirring constantly.  Remove from heat.  Skim foam if necessary.  Ladle hot jam into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.  Adjust two-piece caps.  Process 15 minutes in a boiling-water canner.

Tips:
1.  We used a potato masher to crush the blue berries.  I think next time I might use a food processor, because I do not like pieces of fruit in my jam.
2.  Jam will burn if you boil too long!

Recipe from the Ball Blue Book guide to preserving.
